This presentation will include a discussion concerning the recent Presidential Directive that declares public health as a first responder organization. The response scope will be reviewed as well as it pertains to all emergency types : human-made and natural.
A profile of an environmental health division in Michigan will be given. An overview of the infrastructure will be provided.
Issues concerning funding and its continuance will be covered. Examples of funding streams will be reviewed including the impact of bioterrorism grants.
