Training opportunities for scientists and researchers at the National Institutes of Health

This roundtable discussion will facilitate an information exchange with participants to address opportunities for funding at the National Institutes of Health. The information provided will be appropriate for a broad range of audiences, ranging from undergraduates interested in becoming involved in research supported by NIH to junior and senior scientists who are seeking opportunities to conduct research. Discussions will be tailored to the interests and experiences of participants attending the session. Topics covered will include the following: strategies for developing research ideas and converting these ideas into strong proposals for funding; the application process at NIH, including a discussion of the phases of processing for applications; interpretation of summary statements; and tips for becoming a successful researcher at NIH.
