This presentation will provide examples of Excellence in Public Health Practice as selected by Public Health Practitioners from the Upper Midwest. The Examples have lead to the Development of a Continuing Education Series ‘Excellence in Public Health Practice- Lessons from the Field’. The series has been structured according to the 10 Essential Services of Public Health and consists of 12 one hour programs, one hour for each essential service in addition to an introductory and concluding session. Excerpts of the series will be discussed. The series is available in a variety of formats such as VHS tape, cd-room, DVD and streaming video on the internet. Advantages and disadvantages of the different technologies will be discussed. The series is integrated into a Learning Management system, which allows for a competency based self-assessment. The presenter will discuss the development process of the series and highlight lessons learned that are applicable to the development of other education programs in public health. The importance of the 10 essential services in public health as a structure for activities in public health practice will be demonstrated. The presentation will showcase examples of Excellence in Public Health Practice as captured in a continuing education series structured according to the 10 essential services and integrated into a competency based learning management system.
