Measuring outcomes for outreach and health education programs has presented a historical challenge, especially in the arena of programs targeting farmworkers and other at-risk, mobile populations. For over 33 years, Farmworker Health Services, Inc. (FHSI) has been working with migrant and community health centers and programs on improving quantitative and qualitative program outcomes in an effort to improve the health status of farmworkers. This session will go over the process of evaluating outreach program outcomes, based on the methodology outlined in FHSI's nationally reviewed and piloted outcome measures training curriculum. Presenters will review the importance of identifying and understanding program outcome goals in order to choose the most important data collection methods and indicators to gather needed data. They will also encourage participants to understand the importance of qualitative and quantitative data-drive outcomes as a powerful tool in program planning, service implementation, and program improvement.
