To respond to the need to immunize nursing students against influenza, the Faculty of Nursing Community Health Nursing Unit facilitated the development of a student-run influenza immunization initiative in collaboration with the local health department. The project met several goals with respect to practice, education and research. This presentation will describe a) the project logic model, b) activities (e.g., training, marketing, and delivery), and c) evaluation. Also addressed will be issues related to confidentiality, collaboration with a community partner, and lessons learned. Technological resources utilized will be shared with the audience, along with the outcomes of the project. Outcomes included enhanced capacity in the Faculty, skill development for students, higher flu vaccine coverage rates for the client group, and improved employment opportunities for students.
