This portion of the session will present an example of how public planning and regulation, along with private investment and innovation, impacted the initiation of Positron Emission Technology (PET) services in Rhode Island.
The presentation will include a description of the Request for Proposals (RFP) process for PET, the certificate of need (CON) review before the Health Services Council, the investment by the applicant in terms of capital and training and the innovative approach in the proposed delivery of the services through a mobile unit involving six community hospitals in Rhode Island.
