During this session, a presentation on issues that relate to Access to Health Care, Policy and Health Education specifically in regard to Asian and Pacific Islanders enrolled in the Medi-Cal (Medicaid) Managed Care system will discussed.

Accordingly, a broad analysis of challenges and successes in coordinating discussion between API health advocates and API Medi-Cal (Medicaid) members in helping shape Medi-Cal (Medicaid) Health Management Organization needs in health policy and health education will be presented. Specialized health care needs, translation requirements, and health education challenges for API Medi-Cal (Medicaid) members will be discussed as well.

Additionally, a description and discussion of current communication protocol for the growing number of API Medi-Cal (Medicaid) members regarding access to health care, policy, and health education will be presented.

Lastly, a brief assessment of relationships between a Medi-Cal (Medicaid) Health Management Organization and API-specific community-based health clinics and non-profit organizations, among others, in promoting access to health care, policy and health education for APIs will end the session.
