This presentation will describe the creation of an organization in the southern California region that promotes and enhances communication between Public Health Nursing in the eight Southern California counties and their nursing school affiliates. As an attempt to model the Quad Council at the local/regional level. This organization is called “The Council of Five”. It consists of representatives from each of the affiliates, the California state Board of Registered Nursing, the American Nurses’ Association, the nursing directors from each of the public health jurisdictions, and the Southern California Public Health Association public health nursing section.
This presentation will describe the process of forming the organization, defining its vision and mission. The progress of this collaborative will be explained in detail including lessons learned to maximize the efforts of other jurisdictions that hope to create a similar local structure.
