Two experienced community health workers will present on what we have learned in reaching out to Latino and African-descendent communities. We will discuss the factors we have found that contribute to successful outreach including knowledge of the community, approaches which contribute to success, gaining community trust, and the administrative support that is needed for successful outreach. We will share our stories of successes and barriers. In addition, we will facilitate audience sharing of what they have learned about successful outreach and the barriers they have experienced. The presentation will focus on community health workers and community outreach workers. We welcome administrators and supervisors to attend to listen and learn.
