The Data Warehouse on Trends in Health and Aging is a web-based tool to provide up-to-date information on the health and well-being of older Americans. The Data Warehouse was created at The National Center for Health Statistics with the support of the National Institute on Aging. This system is designed to show trends in health-related behaviors, health status, health care utilization, health insurance, and health care costs of the older population. The information in the Data Warehouse is presented for older men and women of various ages, races, and ethnicities and is organized in Beyond 20/20® tables. Beyond 20/20® is user-friendly, easy-to-use software, which allows the user to retrieve and display customized tables, analyze the data with graphs and maps, and access explanatory information about the health indicators and survey methodology.

The Data Warehouse could be use as a source of data to assess the consequences of policy changes and regulations, as a planning and evalutation tool , and as a data source for grant writing. Topics such as diabetes, heart diseases and disability could be covered depending on the choice of the audience. Trends in diabetes and cardiovascular diseases will be analyzed using vital statistics, hospitalization data, risk factors and other health indicators. The trend in disability will be considered using data from community settings, nursing homes and other long-term facilities, and home health care agencies. Pilot Teaching Modules on Aging topics developed based on the Data Warehouse will be presented
