Environmental health problems disproportionately impact on disadvantaged communities: ethnic minorities, immigrants, rural/agricultural areas. This session will include presentations on research on the environmental health issues in these communities and the lessons learned from attempts to communication information on environmental health risks to these communities. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to understand: 1. that ethnic minorities and people in economically areas are disproportionately impacted by environmental health problems; 2. the relationship of poor housing quality with pest infestations and pesticide exposures; 3. that parental occupation and residential factors contribute to the exposure of children to pesticides; 4. the environmental health risks of children living in rural impoverished communities; 5. the challenges to communicating information on environmental risk to immingrant communities and 6. how partnerships can increase culturally competent information dissemination. | |||
