| The speakers address several enduring challenges for public health necessary to address the frayed fabric of public health: competing for the public attention to advocate for greater public health investment, promoting and protecting the public’s health, increasing the competence and stature of the public health workforce, and resultant policy implications domestically and internationally. Opportunities as well as examples are presented including the upcoming domestic priorities and World Health Day Abstract: Enduring challenges for public health: competing for the public attention to advocate for greater public health investment, for promoting and protecting the public’s health, for increasing the competence and stature of the public health workforce, for policy implications domestically and internationally; with a highlight on World Health Day and Transportation Safety for the public. The session will include a discussion of important illustrations for public health education, practice, research and advocacy. | |||
| Learning Objectives: At the completion of the session, the participant will be able to: 1. Identify the challenges of competing attention for greater investment into public health, and investing resources into the workforce; 2.
