After three wars and 13 years of comprehensive economic sanctions, the needs for the health sector in Iraq were many. Large-scale US and international funding of health initiatives makes extensive programmatic activity possible at this time. This session will: 1)summarize the health situation by the end of the 2003 war; 2)present various views of health priorities for post-war reconstruction; and 3)provide field reports on the conditions of some of these priority programs, including hospital supply community health programs allied health training repatriation of overseas Iraqi health professionals public health education international collaboration Presenters are among those Iraqi and international staff involved with these programs for the new government of Iraq, NGOs, and US consultants. | |||
