In this session we discuss the strategic direction of different models of urban health-focused organizations. Each model’s approach to decreasing urban health disparities will be presented. Each presentation will include examples of their unique efforts for improving community health. These efforts range from community capacity building to increasing the sustainable impact of community research. Some of the strategies discussed address the social determinates of health while others seek to impact health directly. The importance of adequate health workforce, communication strategies, economic and job development as strategic priorities will be compared and contrasted across the models in the ensuing discussion. | |||
