In response to nation's largest state budget deficit and continued lowered tax revenues, the state's Medicaid and SCHIP programs were forced to rescind many gains made over previous four years. Renewed efforts to reduce federal contributions and flexibility for Medicaid and SCHIP io California are also of concern. This year's final state budget health care coverage compromises portend further reductions in coming years. This presentation will discuss the impact of these deficits on funding for public coverage programs for low-income persons in California.
