Consistent with our mission to connect issues of social justice and public health in our lives and in the work that we do, the Spirit of 1848 has organized this session to focus on teaching activism in public health. Approaches that will be discussed include: using community action models, using literature, using experiential learning, and using media advocacy.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to:
• List diverse approaches to teaching activism in public health
• Describe diverse resources that can be used for progressive pedagogy for public health
• Articulate connections between progressive pedagogy and community-based participatory research
