Title: Preparing for Outcomes Evaluation: NYC’s Multi-Pronged Approach
1.Topic Description
Government-funded community-based organizations (CBOs) need new skills to meet CDC requirements that they begin to measure the effects of their interventions on program participants. Increased emphasis on outcomes can improve the ability of community planning groups (CPGs) to identify effective HIV interventions and develop technical assistance plans that build CBO capacity to evaluate interventions. This workshop will share lessons learned from four different NYC CBO capacity-building approaches.
2.Issues to be Discussed
·The trend toward outcomes measurement and monitoring; ·Issues and challenges in developing effective strategies to increase CBO capacity to evaluate theory-based behavioral interventions; ·Different approaches to capacity building ·How outcomes evaluation can help community planners identify effective interventions and develop technical assistance plans.
3.Learning Objectives
Participants will ·Gain information on four approaches to building CBO capacity to evaluate interventions; ·Explore ways to respond to real-world challenges facing jurisdictions seeking to improve their ability to evaluate funded interventions.
4.Solutions, Methods, Approaches, or Examples
Participants will be provided with informational materials on four capacity-building approaches.
