Description of Program/Methods: CureTB and Cure+ are binational referral programs that provide guidance and education to patients moving between Mexico and the United States during the course of their treatment. The goal is to assure the continuity of care and/or completion of treatment of mobile TB and HIV/AIDS patients. Both programs offer a link between Mexican and U.S. health care providers, notifying of patient arrival and facilitating the exchange of clinical information. Using an over-the-phone case management system, CureTB and Cure+ staff monitor and document the treatment outcome of patients, links them to health care and carries out education activities. A toll free telephone number, staffed by professional, bilingual and bicultural staff, is available to patients and providers in both countries. In 2003, the US and Mexico are collaborating to implement an enhanced referral system, aimed at further improving successful continuity of care for mobile patient.
