Financial backing to any project is a challenging issue. The development of a budget and specific budget items is a crucial step in approaching those who would back your project. Major expense items such as staff and office or housing space are of importance as well as those that will maintain the daily operations of the mission. For example, · office supplies, · health care supplies (medications, medical appliances), · printing costs, · training expenses, will all need to be incorporated into the budget plan. In conjunction with a budget submittal to a fiscal agent, consideration should be given to grant packages. Other considerations include cultivating relationships with agencies that have a vested interest in your health mission. Working within those budget constraints will also offer challenges. Although many groups, agencies or companies may not be directly involved with your team's funding, they should not be overlooked. Many of our community members can be employed for their specific talent or product. For example, hotel chains or private lodging facilities might be willing to donate personal care items to homeless and low-income projects. In a successful community run project, most neighborhood businesses and agencies will respond positively when their services can meet both your needs and theirs.
