As part of the infrastructure to collect standardized data on pilot studies and other research endeavors, researchers associated with the National Cancer Institute-funded Asian American Network for Cancer Awareness Research and Training collaborated in producing core questionnaires in English, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Khmer, and Hindi for use among adult Asian American populations. These core questionnaires are intended to characterize study participants in standardized fashion with respect to such socio-demographic variables as age, gender, marital status, ethnicity, income level, etc. and were assessed for validity, reliability, cultural competence, linguistic appropriateness, and length (not more than 3 minutes to administer). We propose sharing these instruments with the broader public health audience and intend that all users would be able to share in the utilization experience of these instruments. The principal developers of these core questionnaires were Moon S. Chen, Jr., Ph.D., M.P.H., Melvin L. Moeschberger, Ph.D., and Amy K. Ferketich, Ph.D. who will be sharing the results of the development of these core questionnaires in English and selected Asian languages. Developers are indebted to AANCART colleagues who shared their experiences and expertise in the production and utilization of earlier, more extensive questionnaires used to assess cancer risk among Asian Americans.
