Tiffany L. Creighton, MPH, Health Education, Health Promotion and Prevention, Kaiser Permanente, 393 E Walnut St., Pasadena, CA 91188, 626-564-7403, t.creighton2@verizon.net

Kaiser Permanente, the Nation’s largest HMO has had a moderately successful worksite wellness program, Working Well Within Kaiser Permanente. In an effort to increase the physical activity and wellness of its employees and physicians an innovative website, Kaiser Permanente on the move was developed. The website has features such as a personal health tracker, articles relating to health and wellness, a message board, and a walk team area. It is hypothesized that the website will spark employee interest and increase participation and physical activity. The website is the cornerstone of other worksite wellness activities that include pedometers, walk teams, a stairs campaign, and healthier eating options. The website will facilitate walk teams and have incentives built in for steps walked. The goals of the website are to increase physical activity and wellness and decrease Body Mass Index (BMI) of Kaiser Permanente employees. An evaluation will be conducted to determine the effectiveness of the website in achieving these goals. This presentation will focus on the evaluation techniques, tools, and results. Web-based worksite health promotion is a new and innovative approach. This evaluation will have important implications for the future direction of worksite wellness programs. Learners will be able to learn successful evaluation techniques and apply these to their own worksite wellness practice.
