This session discusses the development of an interactive custom query website (Health Information Tennessee at server.to/hit) for county, regional and statewide health problem identification, using on-line individualized health data charting, trending, listing and mapping. Presenters will demonstrate the features and functionality of the website and provide case studies of a county’s community diagnosis to demonstrate the technology and show its applicablility to community health needs assessment and planning
Learning Objectives: 1. To understand the use of an interactive custom query website (HIT – Health Information Tennessee) and its statistical profiling and querying feature (SPOT) for community health needs assessment and planning 2. To describe the community diagnosis process of county level health problem identification using on-line health data charting, trending, listing and mapping 3. To provide comprehensive demonstrations of the on-line custom querying of data bases, interactive mapping and GIS features of the website 4. To communicate how spatial examination of health indicators in relation to other health-related variables and background layers can enhance the utility of health data in community planning. 6. To assess the relative advantages and disadvantages of two GIS software environments for exploratory data visualization and to discuss a hybrid model for interactive mapping on HIT and SPOT
