The 130th Annual Meeting of APHA |
Ingrid Davis, MPA, Michigan Public Health Association, 5670 DeVille Court, East Lansing, MI 48823, 517-335-9546, Davisi1@michigan.gov
The Michigan Public Health Association (MPHA) received an APHA Challenge grant to set-up of a list-serve and web site. The purpose of the list-serve is to improve communications and public relations with our members, and allow members to share important public health information with each other. The list-serve will allow ongoing group discussion and communication among the 350 MPHA members, and will assure expedient actions for state and national legislation. Getting APHA alerts out to members on a regular basis will encourage rapid involvement of advocacy from a grassroots level. Public Health professionals, academia and community based organizations can work more closely together by communicating and sharing policy, research and practice ideas.
Another goal of the list-serve is to retain current MPHA members, increase our current MPHA membership, and recruitment of APHA members. APHA and affiliate information can be shared on a regular basis with MPHA members.
In addition to the MPHA member list-serve, separate list-serves are set up for the MPHA Board, Nursing Section and Oral Health Section. These list-serves will enhance communication among members of the Board, and sections.
