The Urban Health Initiative is a 10-year program in 5 large cities, aimed at making measurable change in health and safety outcomes for children and youth citywide, through multi-sector collaborative efforts. As part of the evaluation of this initiative, three waves of "fiscal analyses" are being conducted as possible evidence that public systems have been changed to benefit children. The fiscal analyses attempt to measure the public dollars spent on children and youth in each of these cities, and identify where and how these dollars are spent. Two waves of analyses have been already conducted. In this presentation, we will discuss our experience in using this approach and our findings to date.

• To understand the current broad distribution of funds for children and youth in large, distressed cities.
