The project, funded through the Indiana Campus Compact, engaged nine of the eleven school districts in Marion County in a dialogue to discuss strategies for developing partnerships that will promote school health services for K-12 students in central Indiana. The project partners faculty from Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON) with health services consultants from the Indiana Department of Education to begin the dialogue in the eleven schol districts. Participatory action research was used to initiate the dialogues using the CDC model for Comprehensive School Health Services and specific tools developed by IUSON faculty and the Institute for Action Research (IARCH). Data was collected from the tools and from tape-recorded dialogue sessions held in each of the school districts. Transcriptions of the dialogue sessions and data from the work sheets were used to channel information to each of the school districts throught follow up meetings. Findings presented will be categorized around the eight components of the CDC model for Comprehensive School Health Services. Data from the school districts participating and recurrent themes from the conversation will be included. Findings from the dialogue sessions were used by school districts to help set priorities with regard to school health services. Potential partnerships were identified for districts, as they strive to meet the Healthy People 2010 Objectives and the Indiana Department of Education's Indiana Student Services Rule.
