Oral Session | ||||
| ||||
The purpose of this session is to explore a wide range of diverse perspectives and experiences on health and the civil society in an emerging global community. Questions to be addressed include: In its pursuit of health issues, does the civil society strengthen, or is it weakened by, an emerging global community? Does it represent such a community, and how is it represented in a global health community? What is the accountability of civil society organizations engaged in global health: To whom and for what? What are the implications for the civil society of the changing landscape of international and global health? By the end of the session participants can expect to appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of varied stakeholders’ views and experiences on the roles of the civil society in health at the global and country levels. They can expect to understand possible criteria for reviewing the roles and contributions of civil society organizations to health to an emerging global community. Insights into present and possible future roles of the civil society in global health governance will be offered, and dialogue among speakers and participants in the session will be promoted. | ||||
