| This session will highlight some examples of recent operational research projects in displaced and emergency-affected populations in order to illustrate to audience members the types of research which can be practically and ethically carried out in these populations and the uses to which such research results can be put. Each of the four presentations will cover a topic currently of interest to the humanitarian community. Each presentation will provide a summary of one or more research projects, including a description of the research methods used, the types of data collected, the methods of analysis and presentation, the conclusions and recommendations derived from the research results, and the public health benefits resulting from these projects. Each presenter also will discuss additional research efforts needed in the near future. Such efforts may include development of necessary research tools, overcoming barriers to research in displaced and emergency-affected populations, and formulating research to answer specific important questions. | ||||
