Oral Session | ||||
| ||||
Preventing or delaying the onset or progression of diabetes-related complications is the goal of patients with diabetes, health care providers, advocacy groups, and public health agencies. Numerous studies have reported that there is a considerable gap between current preventive care practices and published guidelines. Self reports of various measures of preventive care practices are used to identify and monitor opportunities for improving diabetes care. This session will focus on the validation of self-reported preventive care measures and co-morbidities, and the assessment of access to care, levels of preventive care practices and behavioral risk factors that contribute to poor outcomes among persons with diabetes.
See individual abstracts for presenting author's disclosure statement.
Learning Objectives: Participant will identify the validity of self-reported measures for people with diabetes, identify which groups need further attention, and identify behaviors that contribute to poor outcomes.
