Oral Session | ||||
| ||||
Academic-practice partnerships have become a method for enhancing the education of future public health professionals. These partnerships give students an opportunity to enhance their practice skills while interacting in a real-world environment with other health professionals and community members. This session will demonstrate the key factors in forming and sustaining academic-practice partnerships. Presenters will demonstrate the importance of using the partnership as a valuable teaching tool, as well as for strengthening the bonds between academic and private institutions and communities. Several key themes will be examined: such as identifying key curriculum components, strategies for successful collaborations, developing clear outcomes, and identifying challenges and facilitators of successful academic-practice partnerships. At the end of this session, participants will not only understand the importance of academic-practice linkages, but they will also know how to formulate, sustain and enhance a successful partnership. | ||||
