Over the years, the role of CDC in providing this technical assistance has continued to grow and the agency has increased its direct commitment to the implementation of global prevention and prevention research programs through support of such efforts as the Carter Center's Global 2000 program, a worldwide coalition working to eradicate a tropical disease known as Guinea worm (Dracunculiasis), the World Health Organization's Global Polio Eradication Initiative, and more recently, the International Partnership Against HIV/AIDS in Africa (IPAA).
