The true success of Healthy People 2010 lies in improving the health and well-being of families, children, the elderly, and communities. This presentation will outline regional, State and local projects to implement Healthy People 2010 and the Leading Health Indicators. Regional Health Administrators have the established relationships necessary for tapping the power inherent in Healthy People 2010 and making it meaningful to communities and people's lives. This project will enhance activities to implement Healthy People 2010, especially through use of the Leading Health Indicators. The real potential of Healthy People 2010 will be achieved when the States and local communities are engaged in activities that make Healthy People 2010 and the Leading Health Indicators meaningful to them. Planning and implementation must account for the different needs and expectations of different areas within the region as well as different cultural, racial, and ethnic groups. Enhancing the budding practices as well as communicating the best practices of community-based projects and programs established with the guidance of Healthy People 2010 and the Leading Health Indicators has far reaching implications. | ||||
