Jane Perry, MPH, Environmental Health and Injury Prevention Branch/Chemical Hazards Program, Georgia Division of Public Health, 2 Peachtree St., NW, Suite 16.236, Atlanta, GA 30303-6517, 404-657-6517, jmperry@dhr.state.ga.us

The Georgia Division of Public Health=s (GDPH) role in brownfields redevelopment is to develop and implement strategies to ensure that public health issues are considered in the earliest phases of brownfields redevelopment. Through a cooperative agreement with the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, the GDPH has provided funding for three years to the Georgia Tech Research Institute to develop a website supplying brownfields site stakeholders, government agencies, and the public with an information clearinghouse for public health issues at brownfields sites. This website provides the first brownfields-related homepage on the Internet with a direct link to resources advancing the brownfields/public health agenda. Through the clearinghouse an opportunity is available to conduct timely and innovative research into the potential public health effects associated with brownfields redevelopment. The website also provides resources and links to other brownfields information including community involvement and sustainable development, and is available at www.gt‑icore.org/brownfields.
