Experience with participatory action research approach was gathered from several countries, including Madagascar, Ecuador and Nepal. It is an integrated qualitative and quantitative, descriptive assessment using tools and techniques from the 'family' of participatory rural appraisal. Facilitators and participants are involved in all phases of the collection, discussion, and analysis of information gathered during the study. A baseline information gathering is followed by periodic monitoring exercises and outcome assessment. During this session country experiences will be presented, addressing implementation issues as well as some of the key findings stressing similarities and differences between countries and programs.
