This unique equity gauge works at a city level to analyze existing demographic and health data to map health disparities in Nairobi. The partners include the African Population and Health Research Council, the National Council on Population Health and the Nairobic City Council. A ‘Voices from the slums’ newsletter and a workshop with parliamentarians are part of the ongoing advocacy component of this equity gauge. The session will answer the following questions: What are the unique challenges of implementing an urban equity gauge? What indicators were selected to map health disparities and how were they selected? How are policy, community voice and measurement integrated in this gauge project?
Learning Objectives: The audience will learn about the application of an equity gauge in an urban area, what indicators were used, and how the three pillars were integrated.
