This Equity Gauge effort links the analysis of secondary national data sets to public health sector reform debate and key policy-making units. The Gauge works at the national, provincial and district level to identify, monitor and redress health gaps. The partners involved include the Provincial health departments, Mahidol University and the Health Systems Research Institute. An additional capacity-building element in this Gauge makes it unique—training for provincial and district health personnel on equity concepts and equity monitoring principles. The session will answer the following questions: How has Thailand managed to integrate the three pillars of the gauge? How is the concept of the Gauge useful in Health Sector Reform and what levers for change are being pulled?
Learning Objectives: The audience will learn how Thailand has used the three pillars of the equity gauge and how the equity gauge has been used in the health reform debate in Thailand.
