OBJECTIVE: This panel presentation will focus on social work roles which must be expended to meet the delivery of public health services. METHODS: Discussion will focus on an array of knowledge and skills that social workers and healthcare managers perform competently relating to the delivery of services in an ever changing environment. RESULTS: Attendees will receive information that will enhance management and leadership skills to meet the psychosocial needs of clients and promote innovative programs. Specific skills will include (1) understanding and implementing cost containment; (2) appropriate program evaluation process; (3) assessing, planning and developing programs that meet client, agency and community needs and (4) strategies to assure that social workers are included on the interdisciplinary team. CONCLUSION: Social work leaders will understand the importance of the social service delivery that provides innovative programs addressing financial constraints and performance expectations.
