USAID-funded 3 year project is addressed the issues of quality of providers practices in health facilities, implementation of client-centered care, increase of client satisfaction, establishing and maintaining of facility-based monitoring system, adequate policy change for sustainability of program interventions in Russia. WIN Project is conducted in 3 demonstration areas with support of US Cooperating Agencies, national and international experts, International Organizations. WIN Project activities involve 17 health facilities and up to 1 million of residents of the local communities. Evidence-based medicine interventions affect the quality of providers' performance in breastfeeding management, antenatal, labor and delivery and postpartum practices carried out in maternities, women's consultation centers and children's polyclinics as well as create women's satisfaction and demand for quality maternal and newborn health and nutrition services. Facility-based monitoring system is designed to track key health indicators within participating facilities, to measure change in provider practices and to use in decision making. Key stakeholders involved in project implementation and sustainability are local clinicians and administrators, Regional and Federal Ministries of Health, communities and NGOs. The WIN Project demonstrates that sustained community policies, leadership, and cooperation along with international evidence-based medicine expertise are essential for implementation and sustainability of the new best practices influencing maternal and infant health.
