Adolescent reproductive health has been the focus of interest and investment in many countries resulting in a better understanding of common features among high-risk youth. Hence, successfully diminishing the likelihood of some behaviors. Arts of Living is a 30 year-old comprehensive adolescent health, education and counseling service located in Chicago, Illinois, and CEMERA a similar entity in Chile with a tradition of over 15 years of service to high-risk adolescents. Both programs have worked in a collaborative exchange of model replication resulting in a similar design of its assessment strategy, provision of services and database. After over six years of continued cooperation, striking similarities have found between the population served, their families and partners. Similarly, new barriers to maintain a continuum of services with this population have resulted in the fragmentation of care in both countries. This surprising long-term study brings additional relevance to international replication of programs, standarization of research methodology and interventions and the formulation of policies to protect the adolescent population.
Learning Objectives: 1. Understand fundamental principles of programs directed to serve muti-problem pregnant adolescents. 2. Identify core risk-behaviors likely to be found in pregnant adolescents.3. Establish a comparison between adolescent problem profiles in the United States and Chile.
