The native population in Hawai`i which includes American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians has undertaken a number of specific activities to optimize the health and wellbeing of their respective communities. These efforts are community-based and afford other communities models for improving health status and wellbeing.
Gayle Mackura, Papa Ola Lokahi's Community Education Director, will direct the panel which includes the Puni Kekauoha who directs a community-based health effort in Hawaiian communities throughout Hawai`i; Lee Lewis(Zuni), the Executive Director of the American Indian/Alaska Native health initiative in Hawai`i; Momi Lovell, Director of Papa Ola Lokahi's Census Information Center, and an additional person to be selected.
This session will offer practical models and strategies.
