This presentation will highlight the practical policy issues that arise during the creation and maintenance of an agency-wide data warehousing effort. As public health officials increasingly rely upon information systems and data to manage their agency's business, data warehouses have become important tools for improving program management, department administration, and decision-making across the organization. The development and implementation of a data warehouse from the policy perspective, not the technical perspective, will be described in this presentation. Methods and suggesting for translating the lessons learned in this case study to other public health agencies at the local, state, and federal levels will conclude the presentation. See www.hrsa.gov
