Four weight levels were examined in Hispanic, Africa-American and Caucasian elderly. Green and Kreuters’ PRECEDE-PROCEED Model was used to identify predisposing, enabling, reinforcing, behavior and lifestyle and environmental factors related to under, normal, obese and severely obese weight categories. National risk estimates were calculated using NHANES III data (N=4377) and SUDAAN analyses. Risks were identified by age (young, middle, oldest old), gender, marriage, income, disability, education, and diagnostic factors, as well as rural/urban residence and perceived health. Underweight and obesity were the most identifiable weight risk groups. Evaluation of HP2010 nutrition and obesity targets will be made, as well as suggestions for intervention for the age, gender, and racial/ethnic groups.
