This panel will present findings from current experimental pilot projects that are testing new ways to motivate public and private providers to deliver higher quality health care, especially for poorer and underserved populations. The new provider performance methods are all being introduced in a broader context of significant health sector reform designed to improve organization and financing of primary health care, along with related referral systems. They are also designed to increase utilization by improving service quality, accessibility, and affordability for patients. Findings will be presented from a pilot in Alexandria, Egypt, rural districts in Rwanda, and rural districts in the Dominican Republic. The panel will also present a framework for analyzing health worker motivation and its impact on health sector reform. Findings will be presented from applying the framework to studies of determinants of health worker motivation in Jordan and Georgia | ||||
