This session brings three groups of health services researchers working on empirical research on drug use and spending by Medicare beneficiaries together with representatives of public and private organizations that need reliable research findings in this area in order to make policy decisions or develop policy positions. The objectives of the session are: (1) to show where research informs the debate over a Medicare drug benefit, and (2) to discuss ways that the link between researchers and policy makers can be strengthened.
