| As the debate on social inequalities surfaces fundamental issues impacting the health of individuals and societies, many emerging programs are beginning to address issues of health disparities among racial and ethnic groups. These important developments have numerous implications, particularly for health programs and generally for public policies. In light of this milieu, essential questions to consider are: where is the debate going? what are some of the obstacles? how can this debate change our public health practices? What kind of vision and actions are needed in public health to address structural inequities to enable the elimination of both health disparities and social inequalities. This highly interactive panel will engage participants in discussing the relationships between health disparities, social inequalities and structural inequities. This session will discuss the impact of structural inequities on health disparities, including social, political, and economic factors as determinants of health, as well as current and future interventions addressing these issues | ||||
