This panel will describe the conceptual framework for targeted preservice education interventions and for evaluating the results of those interventions, using JHPIEGO's experience in more than 20 countries in the past several years. The 4 presentations listed will cover the range of aspects that comprise evaluation of preservice education program interventions, presenting results from a variety of countries. How do I Evaluate Preservice Education Programs? Let Me Count the Ways.... will relate the conceptual framework for preservice program interventions to the various ways in which the effect of the programs can be measured. But I Already Know How to Teach: Strengthened Faculty Performance For Improved Student Learning will use experiences in Uganda, Kenya, Benin and Nepal to demonstrate the critical function of support supervision along with job aids to ensure faculty/clinical preceptor performance. Congratulations, You're Licensed to Practice: Assessing Service Delivery Performance will describe the various assessment methods - in simulations as well as in clinical settings - for assessing student and provider competency and the results of using them in different country programs. Stirring up the Winds of Change: How Policy and Advocacy in Preservice Programs Lead to Expanded - and Unexpected - Results describes results from program performance and policy dialogue to stimulate change beyond the preservice educational institution to the national training system. The four presentations will present a comprehensive and cohesive perspective of the effectiveness of interventions for strengthening preservice education for healthcare providers, all supported by results from evaluations and assessments in developing country settings | ||||
