Join us for a lively discussion of some of the latest ideas and advances in state and local Healthy People initiatives. Learn how peer states and communities are taking new approaches for Healthy People 2010--such as focusing on policy, mobilizing communities around health disparities, linking local and state planning efforts, using the leading health indicators, identifying new data sources, developing marketing plans, and taking advantage of new resources. This roundtable session will be an excellent opportunity for public health professionals involved in this popular national initiative to share lessons from their year 2000 efforts, plus learn how others have defined specific roles for public and private sector partners in planning and achieving Healthy People 2010 objectives. Note: Participants are encouraged to bring business cards and at least 30 copies of any materials and summaries they can share from their 2010 initiatives.
Learning Objectives: By the end of the session, participants will be able to: 1. Identify new and innovative approaches to Healthy People 2010 efforts among state and local jurisdictions. 2. Describe specific roles of public and private sector partners in peer Healthy People planning efforts
