At the close of the decade monitored by goals proposed for the Nation's health by Healthy People 2000, this presentation will examine the progress made in the objectives that focus on women's health. At the Progress Review on Women in 1998, there were 63 objectives identified as targeting women. Of these objectives, 6 met their target, 26 made progress towards their targets, 9 had mixed progress, 12 moved away from their targets, and 10 could not be assessed due to the lack of data. These numbers will be updated using the last year of data for Healthy People 2000 and a final evaluation of the progress in the women's health objectives will be presented. Also, the transition to Healthy People 2010 will be discussed. There are at least 50 measures that address women's health issues. In addition, gender will be included as a select group in most of those objectives that are classified as population-based.
Learning Objectives: 1. Increase awareness of final assessment of progress towards the Year 2000 objectives for women. 2. Identification of specific objectives at increased risk for adverse health outcomes. 3. Increase understanding of the relationship between the Healthy People 2000 and 2010 objectives for specific population groups
