The third leg of the RWJF-funded Work Incentive Initiative was a grant to the Center for the Study and Advancement of Disability Policy at George Washington University. This grant provides policy-related technical assistance to individual states, supports the aggregation and dissemination of the policy development and organizing strategies of the RWJF states to a growing number of other interested states; and supports the organization of advocacy efforts to reform and streamline the existing federal and state policies that serve as disincentives to work for individuals with severe disabilities. The panelists in this session will describe the processes developed to stimulate and organize these policy reform efforts at the state and national level. Included among the strategies will be a discussion of the specific framework and guiding principles developed to assist other states in their individual policy reform efforts.
