The Health Resources and Services Administration's Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) is forging partnerships with a variety of individual leaders, community groups, and state and national organizations committed to achieving universal access to health care and the elimination of health status disparities between population groups in the United States. Partners in this "Campaign for 100% Access and 0 Disparities" agree that the number of people without access to care, over 40 million and growing, and the longstanding disparities in health status between groups, are unacceptable. Primary beneficiaries of the Campaign are the most underserved communities and the most disenfranchised populations. This presentation will discuss available technical assistance and capacity building support to help partners reach the goals of 100% access and 0 disparities. The goal of a national safety net of comprehensive, community-based health service delivery systems can be attained through the development of stronger partnerships at the local level. Capacity building efforts must support communities as they: 1) expand primary care capacity to increase access; 2) create innovative outreach methods; 3) develop culturally competent health systems; and 4) develop measures for tracking health status and access across ethnicity, income, insurance status, and gender. The presenters will cover core values and supports for partners. Additionally success stories will be presented to show how partners can become catalysts for more integrated systems and aligned resources.
Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to: 1) Discuss how the goals of zero disparities and 100% access can be attained; 2) Describe the types of results already shown by communities in the campaign; 3) Discuss with community members the importance of joining, and how to join, the campaign to eliminate disparities and create universal access to health care
