An Operating Engineers local expressed interest in developing ergonomics training for their first year apprentices. Staff from a local university conducted a series of four focus groups with the apprentices to pilot training activities and elicite their input into the appropriateness of the content and techniques. Based on these focus groups, a 6 hour training was developed. The training was piloted on two separate classes of first year apprentices and evaluated through the use of a pre- and post-intervention test. The qualitative evaluation of course participants, as well as the qualitative evaluation data from the pre- and post-intervention tests will be presented and discussed.
